I love design. I love texture. I love making homes look and feel welcoming and comfortable. I also love plants and maximizing outdoor space. My name is Bethan and I am an interior designer / decorator. I design using my P.A.P.E.R. technique: Pillows, Art, Plants, et (“and” in Française) Rugs - which are the accents to add texture and warmth to any room.
From the Entertainment Industry to Interior Designer
Having spent 25 years in the entertainment industry, I traded rock stars for craft stars, which led me to return to my first love as an interior designer. A weird creative path but it’s a full circle for me. Oddly, the process of producing a show is much the same as interior design: I need to get from point A to point Z with *these* elements, while keeping everyone happy, on budget deadline!
I grew up on the west side of Los Angeles adjacent to the beach – which is kinda ironic because the one texture I do not like is sand. I moved to London when I was 21 and lived there for 20 years, now I’m back in LA.
I have been “designing” since I could hold crayons and built additions to Barbie’s Dream House that were the envy of my buddies. I make things. Lots of things. Jewelry, art, furnishings. If I can’t find the perfect color pillow, I make it. Have an outdoor wall that’s ugly? I cover it. I dabbled in design classes in my teens and wanted to be an interior designer until a neighbor tried to talk me out of it insisting it was a male industry. Boy, times have changed! Thankfully, I didn’t pay much attention to her so I signed up for the classes anyway. While in London, I took it more seriously, and in addition to annoying my friends by moving their furniture around, I finally buckled down and did the training.
I staged homes for several years which led to a career as an interior designer working on projects both big and small. Whole homes or single rooms. With the technology available, clients and I don’t even need to be in the same city … we can create a new vibe via calls, remote designs, room plans, and suggested shopping links.
My broad range of interior design services includes all shapes and sizes of homes, both rental and owned, single and multiple room, themed rooms, and outdoor spaces either to get ready for sale/rent or just because you want a shakeup! I would also love to help you make your vacation rental / AirBnbB stand out in the crowd.
